Hi friends,
Our August wandering will take place Saturday, August 31st at 10am at Zuma Ridge Trail in Malibu.
Trailhead Address: Zuma Ridge Motorway & Busch Drive, Malibu, CA 90265
While the hike is around 5 miles, we’ll adapt to the needs of our wanderers and may shorten the hike to match our timeframe. More details on the Zuma Ridge Trail and this particular hike is available at: alltrails.com/trail/us/california/zuma-ridge-trail
This trail is in Malibu, California and is part of traditional, sacred, and unceded land of the Chumash, and other Indigenous peoples.
We wander in spaces with layered, complex histories that include abuse, exclusion, and violence. We are mindful of this and committed to the work of understanding, renewed relationship, and restitution. Learn more here.
The nature of our wanderings requires a level of ability that is not a reality for all. We walk as a community, conscious of varying ability and individual need. Regardless of your particular ability, identity, who you are, who you love, your beliefs or understandings, we hope you will feel welcomed, affirmed, embraced, and heard as you wander with us.
Please send an RSVP to payton.hoegh@spiritualityinnature.org so we know who to expect!
Recommended gear: Comfortable shoes, Sun hat, Layers, Sun block, Water and Snacks
Here’s some of what we've been digging into these past few weeks that we hope will ground out walk and guide some of our conversation:
Essay - Erosion & Edges by Maria Popova - Marginalian
Poem - Uncomplicated Prayer by Sarah Platenius - Orion Magazine
Video - Erosion by Sophia Diehl - Interpretive Dance
Hope to see you soon!
